Feast on it...

Finally, HTC has brought the fight to Apple with Touch Diamond. Great timing... just one month before 3G iPhone launches, and seriously I have to say, I'm wanting this more than the iPhone, well, for now...

Drooling at the user interface? Here's a few things i wanna say about it.

• touch interface with a wow factor always have a resemblance to the iPhone's (have to thank Apple for this true innovation)
• good job "reinventing" by dumping the old TouchFLO with cube interface (which i'm not fond of) and coming up with something the "new" - TouchFLO 3D.
  
• the responsiveness on the new TouchFLO 3D isn't on par with iPhone's one, but the amount of great looking animations are much more than iPhone's (the weather for example).

Some goodness-es...

• TouchFLO 3D interface looking good,
• aesthetic-wise... better than iPhone-good,
• HTC nailed the form factor *2 thumbs up*... (it's shorter, much thinner and lighter than my N82, and also esp the iPhone piece of brick (you can really feel the weight of iPhone in your hands), and with the 3G iPhone being heavier and slightly thicker, some might switchover)
• although iPhone's 3.5" display is bigger than Diamond's 2.8" (same as N95 8GB),
  Diamond's one pwn the iPhone with an awesome VGA screen (that's 480 x 640 goodness there!!! or flip it over - 640 x 480, that's the resolution of your Windows 95 era ancient)
• with the VGA screen, web browsing on the Diamond might be the better one now as the Diamond can display more details than Safari at once.

Some bad-ness

• you're stuck with 4GB internal memory ONLY (i guess an 8GB one might be coming someday)
• resistive touchscreen (which is not as good as iPhone's capacitive touchscreen, sensitivity wise and clarity wise)

Here's some real world usage of the interface, which you'll see why TouchFLO 3D isn't as sleek as iPhone's.



In case you're wondering why zooming in a picture is so slow... that's because of the resolution of the picture. Processing 3.2 megapixel (assuming its taken using Diamond's camera) images isn't exactly a mobile-sort of thing. And why iPhone's is faster? I'm assuming that those are transfered in pictures from iTunes, which will be automatically downsized.
