-- Hari Kebangsaan...

Hari Kebangsaan?? pffft.

Happy Birthday Hatsune Miku!!
一周年おめでとう、ミクちゃん!bwah

From the official blog (http://blog.piapro.jp/2008/08/post-101.html)

Who is she?
Crypton's singing synthesizer software, which is based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2.

What is Vocaloid?
Grabbed from wikipedia:
"
Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer application software developed by the Yamaha Corporation that enables users to synthesize singing by just typing in lyrics and melody"

Well, that was Vocaloid, she's a Vocaloid 2. Yeah, she's a "singing software"... headphone. And her birthday is today... biggrin

How did she became so popular? Most probably started off with her songs getting lots of hits on NicoNicoDouga (whom today remains the greatest source for Miku song and videos) which was then spread far and wide by anime fans who frequent Nico.

This song became one of her earliest hit songs and sort of became the official "Miku song" for a quite a long time. (the other being leek spinning Ievan Polka)

(animated by fans)

Yeap, her popularity was totally driven by fans themselves - songs, arts, videos, paper figures... There's even a 3D animator called MikuMikuDance created specially by fans.

Who's the other 2? More on them below.

Below is one of her more professionally done hit song - Melt

Miku's voice can be adjusted to pronounced english words too, but it just won't be that accurate (but but, pretty accurate engrish tongue). There are also english Vocaloid-2s - Sweet Ann, Prima and Big Al... just not popular .

So, one year later, with her popularity established... we get a manga, cameo appearance in anime, figures!..

(Figma series are very posable, unlike normal static PVCs, hence the joints)

Nendoroid series Miku

Nendoroid Miku, joined in by her lil sis and bro, Kagamine Rin and Ren... also by Crypton

Talking bout Rin and Ren, they're also Vocaloid2, but the voice is provided by a different voice actress. Both got popular really quickly too because of Miku biggrin.

...and ofcoz, popular enough to be cosplayed!!

The Vocaloid family.

Miku's oniisan - Kaito (in blue) and oneesan - Meiko (in red)... they're from the 1st Vocaloid. Got pulled out from oblivion by Miku... hahaha.

And let's see the whole family in Nendoroid form dancing...

(also animated by fans ofcoz)

Two more? Yes, those two standing on top are the more popular derivatives of Miku:
- Yowane Haku (meaning "Speaking weak words") and
- Akita Neru (which sounds like "I’m tired. Gonna go to sleep").
If a song by Miku turns out bad... they take the blame, sort of... laugh

-- Tsundere moe!

If maid cafe ain't your taste, how about tsundere cafe?

Still confused on what's tsundere? Here's my own explanation - sometimes hostile verymad (tsuntsun), sometimes shy-shy blush (deredere), you get tsundere. That's what you get when you suddenly see Jo shy-shy towards you. Does it turn you on? hahaha. jkjk. tongue

In the example above, the waitress took tsuntsun to the extreme (90%), and very little dere dere (10%)...Nevertheless, it's not easy to keep the "angry" attitude and face all the time, when compared to the normal politeness level that you get in Japan (which to us, would be sort of an extreme level of politeness).

Let's see how these 3 "idiots" break it...

No, i don't understand what they're talking about most of the time either... sweat

-- Stupid Sakura Project

How's this for some anime nostalgia? lol

More great stuff in v2... hahaha.

Try to spot the parodies in v3...

Episode1 didn't turn out as funny as i expected, but funny nonetheless (must've read too many reviews...).

And then came Episode2 which introduces this weirdo Suzumiya Haruhi from the perspective of Kyon (the guy sitting in front of her, and the narrator of this series)... interested in non-humans (aliens, ghost...), thinks that human are boring, wants to date a non-human, good in practically any sports, changes into PE wear in front of guys, changes her hairstyle everyday,
but still dunno bout her studies tho... but there were other points in during this episode that suggested she's more than that...

She thinks that all the current school clubs are boring, and set up her own club... pulling Kyon, a literature oddball, and a cute girl with large boobs in... (still lacking one person for now)

Sekai wo
Ooini moriagerutame no
Suzumiya Haruhi no dan

The save the world by overloading it with fun Haruhi Suzumiya's brigade.... -.-||||.....SOS Brigade. What they're gonna do with the club??? no idea... except we know that they've filmed a F- grade amateur movie from Episode 1...

and after catching 2 glimpses of spoilers - which i tried to refrain very very much but failed, from somewhere else... i really dunno what to expect from her... and this series either!!!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya may turn out to be one of the best this season...

This is the OP clip which appeared only at Episode2... 1st impression? blown away by the fluidity of the animation for this OP and a pretty catchy tune too.

And this is the ED clip, which appeared at Episode 1, and appeared resize (englarged, by adjusting the credits n such) at Episode2, and there's a reason for this.

Impression? even MORE blown away by the animation fluidity!!!! OP's very good, ED's great!! And the song itself is even catchier than the OP, :thumbs up:!!! So why the resize?? cause for at least half of the ED clip, the main characters are dancing to the song, and animating human dancing isn't cheap (in budget terms), but it doesn't dissapoint AT ALL. Their movements are superb, and even the char's mouth move along the the lines of the song. Fullmetal Alchemist's movie dance scene (by the gypsies) is nothing.

heck, i'm watching the OP n ED clips just for kicks!!

So what to expect form this anime??
Storyline, still not clear... unpredictable...
Genre,.dunno either... mahou shoujo? sci-fi? school life? comedy?... can i expect all 4??
Crisp and clear high quality animation, yes!!! Kyoto Animation ftw!!!
